Course Content Overview
This program is designed to cover all knowledge areas and tasks outlined in the Project Management Professional (PMP)® Exam Content Outline (ECO) from PMI. The curriculum focuses on providing participants with the knowledge and skills necessary to pass the exam and apply best practices in their projects. The chart below shows the distribution of course content based on the three main exam domains.
Session 1 (2.5 hrs): The Project Management Landscape

- Course Introduction & Overview: program objectives, structure, PMI alignment
- The 12 Project Management Principles: value delivery, stakeholder engagement, leadership examples
Learning Outcomes: Understand PMI framework, principles of project management, and the strategic importance of projects in organizations.
Session 2 (2.5 hrs): Performance Domains
Key Topics:
- **The 8 Project Performance Domains**:– Stakeholder– Team– Development Approach & Lifecycle– Planning– Project Work– Delivery– Measurement– Uncertainty
- Examples of applying each domain to real projects
Learning Outcomes: Participants will identify, apply, and measure performance domains to ensure successful project delivery.
Session 1 (2.5 hrs): The Project Environment

- **Organizational Structures & PMO**: functional, hybrid, projectized, and hybrid structures
- **Enterprise Environmental Factors (EEFs)**: culture, policies, tools, organizational systems
- **Organizational Process Assets (OPAs)**: templates, historical data, lessons learned
Learning Outcomes: Participants will analyze organizational influences and leverage EEFs and OPAs effectively for project success.
Session 2 (2.5 hrs): The Modern Project Manager
Key Topics:
- **PMI Talent Triangle®**: technical, leadership, strategic & business management skills
- **Project Approaches**: predictive, agile, hybrid – key differences
- **The 5 Process Groups**: Initiating, Planning, Executing, Monitoring & Controlling, Closing
Learning Outcomes: Participants will understand project manager competencies, methodology selection, and navigating process groups efficiently.
Session 1 (2.5 hrs): Core Processes: Integration
Key Topics:
- **Project Integration Management**: how processes interlink
- **Develop Project Charter**: purpose, key elements, stakeholder input
- **Develop Project Management Plan**: integration of scope, schedule, cost, quality, resources
Learning Outcomes: Participants can initiate and plan projects, integrating multiple knowledge areas to achieve strategic alignment.
Session 2 (2.5 hrs): Core Processes: Scope (Predictive)
Key Topics:
- **Plan Scope Management**: policies, procedures, scope baseline
- **Collect Requirements**: interviews, focus groups, surveys
- **Define Scope & Project Scope Statement**: deliverables, acceptance criteria, exclusions
- **Create WBS & Apply 100% Rule**: decomposition, control accounts, work packages
Learning Outcomes: Participants will develop detailed project scopes, define deliverables, and create a work breakdown structure that ensures comprehensive coverage.
Session 1 (2.5 hrs): Core Processes: Schedule

- **Define & Sequence Activities (PDM)**: precedence diagramming, dependencies, leads/lags
- **Estimate Activity Durations (PERT)**: optimistic, pessimistic, most likely, expected duration calculations

Session 2 (2.5 hrs): Core Processes: Cost

- **Estimate Costs**: analogous, parametric, bottom-up
- **Determine Budget & Cost Baseline**: aggregation of estimates, funding requirements
- **Contingency vs. Management Reserves**: handling risks and uncertainties

Session 1 (2.5 hrs): Agile & Stakeholder Foundations

- **Agile Mindset & 4 Values of Manifesto**: differences from predictive
- **Introduction to Scrum**: 3 roles (PO, SM, Team) & 5 events (Sprint Planning, Daily Scrum, Sprint Review, Sprint Retrospective, Sprint)
- **Identify Stakeholders & Power/Interest Grid**: mapping influence vs. interest, engagement strategies
- **Change Management**: applying organizational change management plans
- **Benefits Management**: evaluating and defining project benefits to maximize value
Learning Outcomes: Participants will understand agile principles, stakeholder analysis, and how to engage teams in predictive and agile environments.
Session 2 (2.5 hrs): Team Dynamics & Professionalism

- **Team Development (Tuckman Ladder)**: Forming, Storming, Norming, Performing, Adjourning
- **Manage Team**: 5 Conflict Management Strategies
- **PMI Code of Ethics**: Responsibility, Respect, Fairness, Honesty
- **Virtual Team Management**: tools, challenges, best practices
- **Knowledge Management**: planning and sharing knowledge
Learning Outcomes: Participants will learn team-building techniques, conflict resolution strategies, and ethical decision-making aligned with PMI standards.
