2. Core Responsibilities

Scrum Master

  • Establishes Scrum as defined in the Guide.
  • Accountable for the Scrum Team's effectiveness.
  • Removes impediments and coaches the organization.

Product Owner

  • Accountable for maximizing product value.
  • Solely responsible for Backlog management.
  • Must be one person, not a committee.

Developers

  • Committed to creating any aspect of a usable Increment.
  • Hold each other accountable as professionals.
  • Always own the Sprint Backlog and Plan.

3. Time-Box Limits (Max)

Event Time-Box (1 Month Sprint) Purpose
Sprint Planning 8 Hours Define Why, What, and How.
Daily Scrum 15 Minutes Inspect progress toward Sprint Goal.
Sprint Review 4 Hours Inspect Increment & adapt Backlog.
Sprint Retrospective 3 Hours Plan quality/effectiveness improvements.

4. PSM / PSPO Essentials

Question The Exam Answer
Who can cancel a Sprint? Only the Product Owner if the Goal becomes obsolete.
Who decides how work is done? The Developers (they are self-managing).
When is a Sprint over? When the Time-box expires (it never ends early).
