Lesson 1.3: Setting Expectations: Certification, Learning Style & Resources

https://opex.tn/wp-content/uploads/2025/08/Certification-Learning-Style-Resources.mp3

Welcome to our final introductory lesson! Before we dive into the core principles of Scrum, it’s crucial that we’re all on the same page regarding what to expect from this course.

Our Core Goal: PSM Certification 🎯

Our primary objective is to prepare you thoroughly for the Professional Scrum Master (PSM) certification exam from Scrum.org. Every lesson, every exercise, and every discussion is designed to build the knowledge and understanding required to pass this challenging exam on your first attempt. Even if you’re completely new to project management or Agile, this course will guide you step-by-step.

Your Learning Style: Practical and Immersive 💡

Learning Scrum isn’t just about memorizing terms; it’s about understanding how to apply them. This course is built on an experiential learning model:

  • Case Study-Driven: As introduced in Lesson 1.2, the ‘Heart of Harmony’ Digital Platform case study is central. We’ll apply every Scrum concept to this evolving project, making the theoretical practical and the abstract concrete. This approach ensures you not only understand “what” Scrum is, but “how” it’s applied in real-world scenarios.
  • Interactive & Reflective: We encourage you to think critically, reflect on the case study, and consider how the concepts might apply in different situations within the ‘Heart of Harmony’ project.
  • Intensive 7-Day Sprint: This course is designed as a 7-day sprint. We’ll move through the material efficiently, building knowledge incrementally each day, just like a Scrum Team delivers value.

What We Expect From You ✅

  • Engagement: Actively participate by engaging with the content and considering how it relates to the ‘Heart of Harmony’ case study.
  • Curiosity: Don’t hesitate to ask questions or request deeper dives into specific topics.
  • Commitment: Dedicate consistent time each day to review the material, as the course builds progressively.

By setting these expectations upfront, we ensure a clear path to achieving your PSM certification. We’re excited to have you on board!

Are you ready to truly dive in? Let’s move on to Lesson 2.1: The Foundations of Scrum: Empiricism and Lean Thinking.
