Our project is the creation of the ‘Heart of Harmony’ Digital Platform for the community of Mahres.
The community of Mahres has a new, state-of-the-art community center, but its current services are managed through outdated methods—phone calls, bulletin boards, and paper forms. The goal is to build a modern, intuitive digital platform that becomes the central hub for residents to engage with all the center’s activities.
The platform will:
Connect Residents: Enable residents to create profiles, connect with neighbors, and form interest-based groups.
Simplify Access to Services: Provide a streamlined way to view and register for classes, events, and workshops offered at the center.
Promote Transparency: Offer a single source of truth for all community news, center hours, and public announcements.
Facilitate Management: Give community center staff the tools to manage bookings, registrations, and communication with residents more effectively.
The ultimate vision is to create a digital space that truly mirrors the warmth and connectivity of the physical community center itself.
The needs of a community are always evolving. A new class might become popular, an event might need to change, or residents might discover a new type of group they want to form.
This complexity and constant potential for change is why a rigid, traditional project plan won’t work. The project team needs to be able to:
This is the perfect environment for a Scrum Team. Over the course of our 7-day sprint, you will apply the Scrum framework to build this very platform. Every lesson will relate back to a challenge, an event, or a decision made by the ‘Heart of Harmony’ Scrum Team.
This case study is our project’s heartbeat. It will make every lesson practical, memorable, and directly applicable to your future as a Certified Professional Scrum Master.
Now that we have our project’s context, let’s move on to our final introductory lesson.
